CPD Points: 1.5
This webinar draws on Dr Greg Woods’ wealth of experience in criminal legal practice and outlines the challenges of representing clients in a criminal trial from first interview to appeal. Starting with the first interaction with the client and related ethical duties, the webinar covers the important phases of pleas and the techniques of preparing for a trial.
The webinar discusses the skills of advocacy from the perspectives of both the prosecution and the defence and touches on the main trial phases (including opening, cross-examination, behaviour, cutting off escape, re-examination, and the question of calling evidence) as well as taking points for appeal, the final speech and the judge’s summing up.
