This webinar focuses on the use of remote communication technologies, such as video links, by vulnerable prosecution witnesses including complainants, as well as by vulnerable defendants when they need to participate in criminal court proceedings or engage in conferencing with lawyers. Do videoconferencing technologies and related special measures mitigate or exacerbate vulnerabilities? Dr McKay will present her findings from a 2023–2024 national study regarding the remote appearance of vulnerable witnesses and defendants.
