Dr Roxanna Dehaghani, a Reader in Law at Cardiff University, specialises in vulnerable suspects and has (co-)authored key works including Experiences of Criminal Justice: Perspectives from Wales on a System in Crises (Bristol University Press, 2023) and a 2024 book chapter on ‘Vulnerability in Police Custody’ and. She has extensively published on topics such as criminal legal aid, criminal defence, and the appropriate adult safeguard. Dr Dehaghani collaborates with public and third sector organisations to enhance protections for vulnerable suspects, influencing policy and practice through her work with the Home Office and the National Appropriate Adult Network (NAAN). She continues to work with NAAN and has developed training videos now used by multiple police forces in England and Wales.
