Simon Bronitt

Professor Bronitt is a Professor at the University of Sydney Law School, where he served as Dean and Head of School from 2019 to 2024. Before joining Sydney University, he held senior academic appointments at The Australian National University, the University of Hong Kong, Griffith University, and the University of Queensland. Over the past three decades, Professor Bronitt has published extensively in the areas of criminal law, evidence and procedure, and policing, with a special interest in law and technology issues. Recent works co-authored works include Principles of Criminal Law (5th ed. 2026 in press); Federal Proceeds of Crime Law (2024), Law in Context (5th ed., 2023), and Rape Law in Context (2018). He is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Law. In 2025, he was the Allen & Gledhill Visiting Professor at the Yong Pung How School of Law, Singapore Management University, from 1 September to 1 October 2025.
