Matthew Tyne

Dr Matthew Tyne is currently an Academic Facilitator at the National Centre for Cultural Competence at the University of Sydney, where he teaches cultural competence and anti-racism. He has worked for over 15 years in international community development, especially in the Indo-Pacific region, including Sri Lanka, where he worked on various applied theatre projects with local activists/actors/ teachers and community groups. A graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts (School of Drama), his recently completed PhD (Theatre and Performance Studies, USYD) features a performance ethnography that explores how gay men in Colombo might use theatre as a mode of advocacy and site of discussion for issues important to them.
