Joellen Riley Munton

Professor Emerita Joellen Riley Munton has been teaching and researching in Employment Law since joining the academy from legal practice in 1998. Her academic career includes a period (2013-2018) as Dean of Sydney Law School. Her doctoral thesis formed the basis of a monograph, Employment Protection at Common Law (Federation Press, 2005). She is an author (with Rosemary Owens and Jill Murray) of two editions of The Law of Work (OUP, 2007 and 2011), and has been on the authorship team of Macken's Law of Employment (Thomson) since the 7th edition in 2011. Her latest book (with Douglas Brodie and Gordon Anderson) is Employment Law for a Brave New World (Edward Elgar, 2025).
