Stephen Clibborn

Dr Stephen Clibborn is an Associate Professor in the Discipline of Work and Organisational Studies at the University of Sydney Business School, where he is Co-Director of the Sydney Employment Relations Research Group (SERRG). Stephen researches in employment relations, law and migration with particular interest in employer compliance and non-compliance with labour standards. His research program focuses on regulation of low-paid work, including the working experiences of migrants and the roles of government, employers, unions, NGOs and civil society in the application and enforcement of employment laws. In 2020, Stephen was awarded Australian Research Council funding to further his research on the employer perspective on labour standards non-compliance. He is the author of many scholarly articles and is also a key research-based contributor to public debates about regulation of work. He is regularly invited to speak to policy audiences on his research and has made influential submissions to government inquiries.
