AI Foundations for Supply Chain Management
Overview
Presented by a team of AI, and supply chain experts, this course provides participants with foundational skills necessary for undertaking AI-based projects in day-to-day business operations.
The course draws upon the industry experiences of the facilitators and requires no prior technical knowledge. Participants will gain hands-on experience with state-of-the-art AI-powered platforms that do not require any coding skills.
This course can be completed in self-paced study mode and is a pre-requisite for participants in AI Projects for Supply Chain Management if they have not completed Strategic AI and Data Science for Supply Chain Management in the previous two-year period.

Institute of Transport and Logistics Studies
This microcredential is led by Dr Jyoti Bhattacharjya from the Institute of Transport of Logistics Studies and supported by GS1 Australia and Dataiku.
Established in 1991, ITLS aims to contribute to the design, management and optimisation of infrastructure, transport, logistics and supply chain initiatives around the globe.
Program details
This short course consists of 4 modules:
1. Introduction; AI Technologies for Resilient and Sustainable Supply Chains (3.5 hours)
Description: This workshop helps participants gain an appreciation for the range of AI technologies that could be applied for increasing resilience and sustainability in procurement, logistics and supply chain management.
2. Responsible AI and AI Governance (3.5 hours)
Description: This module guides participants in completing AI project business cases in the context of scenarios introduced in the previous session. Participants will collaboratively develop the business cases using a given template while considering costs, risks and stakeholder perspectives.
3. Generative AI Competency for Supply Chain Professionals (7 hours)
Description: This two-part masterclass provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of relevant generative AI platforms and helps them develop their prompt writing skills using many real operational examples drawn from the facilitator’s work and research experiences.
4. Machine Learning Competency for Supply Chain Professionals, Wrap-Up (7 hours)
Description: In this two-part masterclass participants will learn to use machine learning tools in supply chain planning contexts. The module closes with a synthesis of key takeaways from the course.

This course is designed for professionals who want to translate AI strategies into practical, applied solutions:
- Business analysts and implementation specialists working in supply chain, logistics, retail, and related sectors.
- Mid-level managers and technical leads responsible for introducing and scaling AI in their organisations.
- Participants in AI Projects for Supply Chain Management if they have not completed Strategic AI and Data Science for Supply Chain Management (or equivalent coursework) in the previous two-year period.
- Individuals seeking to build a portfolio of AI projects to strengthen their career prospects in supply chain and digital innovation.
The course is delivered as a self-paced course. All learning materials will be available via our e-learning system. Participants will have access to online one-on-one and group consultation sessions from our facilitators as needed.

Participants will need to complete four reflection tasks in relation to the content covered in the four modules.
