Strategic AI and Data Science for Supply Chain Management

This microcredential is designed for business leaders and analytics champions who wish to use AI and data science to enhance their supply chain strategies and workflows.

Overview

Artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities are increasingly important for building globally competitive businesses and resilient supply chains. Presented by a team of AI, data and supply chain experts, this microcredential provides a comprehensive overview of AI technologies for procurement, logistics and supply chain management.

Participants are guided towards identifying AI investment opportunities and developing actionable AI strategies within their own organizational contexts. The program also facilitates hands-on experience with state-of-the-art AI-powered platforms that do not require any coding skills.

Participants benefit from networking with a diverse group of experienced procurement and supply chain professionals from various countries including Australia, China, Fiji, Singapore, United Arab Emirates and the United States of America.

What you'll learn

In this microcredential, participants will:

  • Familiarize themselves with AI technologies, including predictive, generative and agentic AI applications in the context of supply chain management.
  • Learn how to assess whether their enterprise data strategy supports successful AI investments at both organizational and functional levels.
  • Take a hands-on approach to learning generative AI and prompt engineering in a masterclass specifically tailored for supply chain managers.
  • Take a hands-on approach to using machine learning models in a masterclass that does not require coding skills for predictive applications.
  • Actively engage in a workshop that will guide them in identifying AI opportunities within their procurement, logistics or supply chain function and analyse return on AI investment.
  • Complete a mini capstone project which involves developing or critically assessing an AI strategy in the context of their own organization and reflect on the implications for procurement and supply chain functions.
  • Understand the importance of responsible AI governance frameworks in guiding your organization’s AI adoption journey.

Program details

The course is delivered in 10 modules, which involve case analysis and presentations in groups, as well as skills development and reflection in the context of a participant’s own organization:

1. Program Introduction; Workshop – Enterprise Data Strategy and Governance for AI Success

Description: This session introduces the overall program and leads into the first workshop which helps participants determine whether their enterprise data strategies and governance frameworks support successful investments in AI.

2. Workshop – Data Accuracy and Visibility for Resilient Supply Chains

Description: This workshop focuses on the use of standards for improving data accuracy and visibility in supply chains, thereby increasing the availability of high-quality operational data for AI-driven analytics.

3. Workshop – AI Technologies for Resilient and Sustainable Supply Chains

Description: This workshop helps participants gain an appreciation for the range of AI technologies that could be applied for increasing resilience and sustainability in procurement, logistics and supply chain management.

4. Workshop – Responsible AI and AI Governance

5. Masterclass – Generative AI Competency for Supply Chain Professionals

Description: This two-part masterclass provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of relevant generative AI platforms and helps them develop their prompt writing skills using many real operational examples drawn from the facilitator’s work and research experiences.

Description: This two-part masterclass helps participants develop a managerial level understanding of machine learning models useful for predictive analytics and gain hands-on application experience on a platform that does not require any coding experience.

Description: This is an optional session designed to provide hands-on guidance to participants who wish to gain platform-based certifications in relation to content covered in Modules 5 and 6.

8. Workshop – AI Opportunities and ROI in Supply Chain Management

10. Expert Panel Discussion, Wrap-Up

Description: This closing session synthesises the key takeaways from the course and provides an opportunity for participants to engage with a panel of AI and supply chain experts.

Our attendees generally include participants from both industry and government. Participants range from executives and senior managers to early-career managers and analysts working in procurement and supply chain management roles. Industry sectors represented by the participants include retail, healthcare, manufacturing, logistics, energy, and water infrastructure.

The 10 course modules are delivered online over 12 sessions (a total of 47 hours):

  • One 3.5-hour session for each of the following modules: 1, 2, 3, 4, 7 and 10
  • Two 3.5-hour sessions for each of the following modules: 5 and 6
  • One 6-hour session for each of the following modules: 8 and 9
  • Participants who take the course in self-study mode will have access to session recordings via the e-learning system
  • Members of the teaching team will be available for online consultation as and when necessary.

There are 8 assessments including a mini capstone project:

  • Modules 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 9 include assessments.
  • Each assessment includes both a group and an individual component.
  • The group component involves in-class case analysis and presentations.
  • The individual component involves application of concepts, frameworks or methods in the context of the participant’s own organization
  • The individual component of the assessment for Module 9 is a mini capstone project that requires a participant to develop an AI strategy in the context of their own organization or critically analyse their existing AI strategy.
  • Participants attending the course in self-study mode will watch the session recordings and complete all assessments individually.
  • Online consultations are available to support completion of assessment tasks.

Upon completion of this course, participants will recieve:


  • Digital certificate in Strategic AI and Data Science for Supply Chain Management
  • Participants who wish to learn more may wish to consider the follow-up for this course, AI Projects for Supply Chain Management
